Sandy Creek Presentations

Updated: Apr 2, 2019

Horseshoe Bay Democrats, a satellite group of Llano County Democratic Party, hosted speakers on the Save Sandy Creek issue at this month's meeting.

Fermin Ortiz and Larry Black, leaders of Save Sandy Creek, presented scientific evidence of the harm that sand mining would do to the environment and the quality of life for many homeowners living adjacent to Sandy Creek. Soc Gonzalez, a homeowner with property next to Sandy Creek suggests that everyone work together to appeal to the government or one of the state agencies to remove the sediment that has built up in Sandy Creek.

The meeting was attended by approximately 50 people including some local officials and media. Collier Materials, the company that has requested permits for sand and gravel mining, did not send representation.
